Week 7 of Senior year at DigiPen included a midterm and mock interview with the owners of Funovus.
This was a busy week yet really fun. I had a single midterm for Game History class and did well on it. That class is turning out to be one of those classes where you are learning without even realizing it.
On Friday, I had a 30 minute mock interview with the owners of Funovus.
Mock Interview:
The mock interview with the owners of Funovus went really well. I had the advantage of having a lot of knowledge on the interview process before coming to DigiPen.
Before I was at DigiPen I was a manager at FedEx ground. I had conducted a lot of interviews in addition to having my own interviews for promotions and what not. Having that knowledge made me a lot more comfortable when talking to them. I also went into the meeting as more of a conversation rather than an actual interview which helped lower my stress level.
The feedback that they gave me was more along the lines of presenting the things that I had done. They were more interested in hearing about my soft-skills rather than hard-skills. But they also said that every company is different.
They gave me some wonderful advice for my resume. They also stressed the importance of having a GitHub account for code snippets. My personal website would show the end product of my projects.
Oh! One last topic. I got a email from a recruiter at Roblox inviting me to apply to one of their open positions. That was particularly exciting because last year I had applied for internship and had done terrible on the coding assessment. She even commented that I had applied last year. It was a good feeling that even though I had bombed the coding assessment, I was still getting invited back.
